You've waited long enough. Time to get your calendar ready for 2014.
You're already thinking about this summer and the endless racing possibilities that New England can bring.
Maybe you do an early season Half Iron and decide it's time to take the next step THIS YEAR. Maybe you are seasoned enough to give an Iron distance race a go on a whim.
But wait...you can't, because you didn't sign up last year, when that Ironman sold out in 30 seconds.
We at Gutter Race Productions absolutely believe that if you want to, you damn well should.
And why pay? Shouldn't it be free?
Before I go into details, I want to mention that this is NOT in the format of Aroostook Dirty 30.
We WANT people to finish this. The difficulty comes from the course and sheer distance, not people trying to get you to drop.
SpineMan CAN be done as a relay, but teams will be comprised of two. They will still be celebrated at the finish, but only Solo-Spiners get prizes.
SpineMan is an Iron+ distance in absolute grass roots format.
-The swim is to be determined. Water is water. Don't overthink it.
-The Bike is randonee format and is approximately 115 miles spanning from the Lakes Region to the White Mountains. This means cue cards and directions, not a marked course. No support, no aid, no sag. Cell phone strongly recommended if you can't fix your own flats. In a way, this takes the stress out. Wanna stop at a store halfway to eat some pizza, do it!!! The clock is always ticking, though!
-The Run is 50k, and will have a healthy mix of trail and roads, and will be marked, but will have no aid. You will need headlights because you'll most likely be running trail at night.
